November Astrology With Full Moon in Taurus and New Moon in Scorpio

What is your interest in astrology all about? Have you ever thought about it? I believe you have a genuine interest in deepening your self knowledge and inner wisdom and ultimately you want to grow. For me astrology is more of an art form then a science. It is grounded in the ancient science of correlating the position of the stars to our worldly living but it is such an intricate, complex system with so many layers of truth and revelations that is has to become exalted to an art adding the intuitive mind and the dimension of the wisdom of the divine soul to form a whole and meaningful picture. All the integration of all the different aspects and angles to look at a person's chart or any moment in time is happening in the mind of the astrologer or student of astrology and depends on the person's inner wisdom and maturity.

Astrology is a journey, a path of wisdom and spiritual unfolding if undertaken consciously for the growth of your soul. While I am allowing my blog to change and assume different forms like the changing from a weekly to a monthly format, I like to play with new perspectives and putting the spot light onto different aspects of astrology without getting to technical. I hope you will enjoy this journey with me!

Sun in Scorpio Stirs the Pot With the Sun still in Scorpio and the upcoming New Moon in Scorpio on November 5-6 we are still stirring in deep and murky waters. The Full Moon of November will be at the very end of Taurus and with that likely help us to integrate the Scorpio Taurus axes just before the Sun moves into Sagittarius on November 22. As we know one sign is always opposed but also balanced out by the opposing sign in the zodiac. Both complete and enhance each other.

For example with Scorpio we have a very complex water sign which is intrigued by deep analysis of inner psyche content with all its shadow aspects of the human nature. Pluto rules the Scorpion underworld and forces us into deep processes of inner transformation reinventing ourselves. Pluto in Capricorn Challenges Our Routines

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio in the beginning of Capricorn is bound to stir things up in society, showing us the abuse of power, misdemeanors for the sake of power and greed as we had to face with the new development in the real estate market exposing the scams of money making vehicles created by financial institutions and banks. With Pluto just beginning his journey through Capricorn this is just the beginning. As hard as we might all feel the impact on melting down of our already deeply wounded economy I believe the truth about what doesn't work anymore for the good of all people is very much needed.

The high potential of Pluto's journey through Capricorn is true responsible leadership with more commitment to the greater good. For that we still have a long way to go but with the other astrological pointers of Saturn in Libra (relationship work), Uranus Jupiter conjunction in Pisces (strengthening our faith and vision) and Chiron Neptune conjunction in Aquarius (becoming more sensitized to other people's needs) we might successfully grow in that direction.

In Pluto's world there is a lot of deep stuff going on, inner shifts in perception and inner growth needs to happen for each one of us. This is our individual place of power depending on our willingness to grow and transform beyond our current beliefs and values.

Taurus on the other hand is representing simplicity and roots in the physical world through our senses, the needs and pleasures of our physical bodies. Taurus is very practical minded and hands on to sort out things in a pleasing way because he is ruled by Venus. With the Full Moon in Taurus we feel more relaxation and ground under our feet. We take care for things in our life, for our body and take one step at a time. With Taurus we can rebuild from the ashes Scorpio has left us with.

The Lunar Cycle from New Moon to Full Moon

The Lunar cycle is the fastest astrological cycle; we can even watch it with our naked eyes. Taurus' emotional generosity and abundance can lead to feeling grateful and abundant in many different ways independent of the amount of money we have in the bank.

Four Planets Turning Direct in November- Releasing Pent Up Energy

When Planets are going retrograde there is always a sense of waiting and reassessment. When a planet is turning direct there might be a couple of days of lag time but then we are able to integrate insights and unravel seemingly stuck issues in our lives. We will move forward. This month we will gradually feel getting "unstuck" and moving into the right direction.

First Chiron turns direct on November 5 with his more detached perspective he gained in Aquarius which will be helpful in navigating the hypersensitive waters of Pisces. Neptune is following on November 6 reinforcing our need for spiritual growth and awareness. On November 18 Jupiter and Venus will turn around. Both "benefics" as we call them in astrology will bolster hope, optimism and faith into the future. We are ending the month with the Sun moving into Sagittarius on November 22 and with that we can take a deep breath and feel lighter and more buoyant.

After all the deep, hard Scorpion inner work we now turn towards expanding our horizon, looking for deeper meaning, maybe travel or teach others from what we have learned and integrated. The Sun transiting into Sagittarius starts us into a lighter tone of energy, more ease and self confidence to apply ourselves. Sagittarius is also a very passionate sign.

With the Sun in Sagittarius we all can have benefit now from a more gregarious nature and self expression. Think about where do you want to have more passion in your life? Where do you want to learn more and expand your skills?

It is such a classic and there are many more books written by him about this subject, looking at the same theme from different angles. He has a very humorous way of looking at the differences of Men and Women and makes many valid points.

If it is your professional life you want to expand and grow I have enjoyed tremendously the book from Timothy Ferriss: The 4- Hour Workweek. What an intriguing concept! This book had me spellbound from the first to the last page, which is quite unusual for me to read a whole non-fiction book that way. Usually I just pick out what seems to be of most interest for me.

If it is in your health I recommend The Astonishing Power of Emotions by Abraham-Hicks. This book talks about how we can be more in tune in with our source energy, our divine being. It talks about how our emotions are indicators for where we are in our journey towards deepening joy and well-being and how we can use them in a smart way to get there.

Astrology - The Derivative House System - Another Layer of Reading

The field of astrology is huge with so many possibilities. In order to study it in a manageable proportion, we must look at it segment by segment. Once we have two astrological segments under reasonable control we can then merge them to develop a comprehensible narrative. Once we have studied an additional segment, we use the same merging process to enlarge our information while keeping it cohesive. We study segment by segment, adding to our previously storage until we have a whole, usable body of information from which we can draw at any time. This reminds me of the way we learn anything, step-by-step, adding as we go.

In order to individualize that body of astrological information we start with the natal wheel for any birth. We then draw from that information pool at will, weaving together the various segments that are appropriate to that wheel in order to read the life story of that person. In short, we learn the basics of astrology so we can tell the personal story for each individual sky map.

In other articles I have suggested that there are four cornerstones to astrology: planets, signs, houses and aspects. Further, it is my conclusion that the planets are the keystone of the four cornerstones. Each of these four segments should be studied in the early stages of astrology so they may be combined as described to begin the process of a reading. In this article we will look at two of the segments, planets and houses, in a particular combining technique called the derivative house system. This technique is usable for those students of astrology that have completed the beginner stage. In brief...

Houses are the division of the 360-degree wheel into 12 compartments. Each compartment contains approximately 1/12th of the life experience or issues for any person, so each compartment is chock full of issues. Since the entire house system is constructed with Earth in the center of each wheel, houses are the down-to-earth experience for that wheel and person.
Planets represent the various functions of the human, such as the ego and self identity urges, the nesting, family, and emotional urges, the function of communication and learning, the urge to relate, to name a few. Traditionally there are ten bodies: our star, our satellite the Moon, and our eight sibling planets.

Derivative House System To study a single planet deeply, we must go beyond the generic meaning of that planet to see it working in the sign in which it is positioned, the house it occupies, the house it rules, and the aspects in which it is involved. All of that is valuable and is usually as far as any reading goes. The derivative technique can give you another layer of house meaning simply by looking at the 12-fold process of any of the ten planets. How? You simply start with the position of a single planet in the house it occupies and mentally recognize it as that planet's first house expression. You then count consecutively counter-clockwise around the wheel from that first house. Each planet and what that planet represents in the individual will have contribution from all 12 houses and their issues. You do not lose the value of a regular reading of a wheel you are simply adding an additional layer of meaning. An example might make this explanation easier to understand.

Let us start with the Sun (ego urge) in Scorpio (sign) in the 5th house (occupation), ruling the 3rd (rulership), and then list the aspects and their meanings individually. That takes you through the usual method of reading the Sun. For another layer of meaning, put your finger on that Sun (ego and self identity) and recognize that its first house expression, regardless of which house the Sun occupies, is the way the world sees the Sun issues, how that Sun and its issues respond immediately to activations from your environment, personal self projection of that Sun, and the Sun's coping skills. Where does the Sun (ego, self-identity) begin? All that actually takes place in the 5th house of this example so you must also view this solar application as creativity, children of the mind and body, speculation, and family values (2nd of the natal 4th). The Sun has more than a self-identity, it also has a value system, communication, relating, and all the other usual traditional house meanings and that is determined by this method.

If the Sun is in the 5th and that is its point of personal projection (1st house for that person's Sun), the value systems for the Sun will be in the adjacent (next counter-clockwise) 6th house. The Sun's value system as the 6th house relates as work, service, and/or health issues.
Communication for the Sun issues (self-identity, ego, etc.) is the 3rd house from the Sun or the 7th house in this example. In this example the Sun's communication mechanism will operate through the partnership, networking function of the chart owner's partnership house.
One more... the home, hearth, roots (4th house issues) for the Sun actually occurs in the 8th (next house counter-clockwise) of joint values, joint finance, life and death issues, etc.

To make it easier for you to learn and to play with this technique, here are a few brief statements about basic planet and house meanings:

First planets...

The Sun represents self-identity, ego, basic character and general vitality.
The Moon represents the emotions, memory, maternal and instinctive urges.
Mercury represents communication, education and transportation issues.
Venus represents relationship skills and drives, social and financial value issues.
Mars represents our assertive, aggressive urges, courage or the lack of them.
Jupiter represents our expansive, philosophic, reaching for more of life urges.
Saturn represents structure, duty, responsibility, and organizational skills.
Uranus represents rebellion, futuristic, unique, individualization issues.
Neptune represents inspiration, aspiration, dreams, visions, delusional issues.
Pluto represents power, powerlessness, empowerment, and destiny at work.

Then houses...

The 1st house is self projection, coping skills, immediate response to the environment, the way the world sees you.
The 2nd house is social and financial values and resources, talents.
The 3rd house is communications, education, and transportation, siblings, cousins and neighbors.
The 4th house is home, hearth, family, roots, internal security parent, conclusions.
The 5th house is creations of the mind and body, love, speculation, values of the family.
The 6th house is your work-a-day issues, service to others and health.
The 7th house is all partnerships, business and personal, networking and alliances.
The 8th house is joint values and finance, insurance, taxes and death.
The 9th house is belief systems, higher education, legalities, multi-cultural activities.
The 10th house is goals, achievements, stature, reputation, career, success or lack of it
The 11th house is friends, groups, results of career, wishes, hopes and dreams.
The 12th house is hidden, recessive, and can be self-sabotaging, a blind spot,

Simply choose one planet and read it through the 12 houses starting with the house it occupies as number 1. You can do that for each of the 10 bodies. This is a study technique initially, but once you have the knack of it, you will find yourself including it in your readings quite easily.

Astrology and The Addams Family: Venus and Mars in Scorpio

They're creepy, spooky, and mysterious. I'm sure you know them. They've visited you at home on your TV and you may have seen them in the movie theater, too. They are The Addams Family. So, what do they have to do with astrology? The characteristics of planets and signs of the zodiac may be learned easily by examining archetypes who embody them. Archetypes can be found in mythological tales and in our pop culture figures. Often, a transit of a planet will make me think of a modern day character from a book or TV show that personifies the qualities of that planet and sign. The current transit of Venus and Mars in Scorpio makes me think immediately of The Addams Family, particularly Morticia as Venus and Gomez as Mars.

Scorpio rules the eighth house of the astrological chart. In traditional astrology, the eighth house has to do with the occult, metaphysics, the paranormal, sex, death, taxes, and inheritance. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. Characteristics attributed to Pluto are intensity, power, destruction, resurrection, and transformation. A spooky ancestral home decorated with the macabre and mysterious, housing a family possessing intense passions and morbid proclivities who live off unlimited wealth hidden in the basement is the most perfect example of Scorpio eighth house symbolism I can imagine.

The Addams Family movie was released to the public on November 22, 1991, under the appropriately Scorpionic influence of the Sun, Mars, and Pluto transiting in - you guessed it - Scorpio! I'm sure the transits of those planets in the sign of Scorpio increased the popularity of the film and the audience's enjoyment of the actors' portrayal of the spooky family so many of us love. Not all movies based on popular television shows live up to expectations, but I know The Addams Family lived up to mine. Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston were wonderfully cast as Gomez and Morticia. I have watched the film several times over the years when I have wanted to set the Scorpio mood for the Halloween season.

Mars is a planet of action and physical vitality. It is a masculine planet and represents sexual energy in matters of love. When Mars is in the fixed water sign of Scorpio, passions can run deep and both lust and anger can flare dramatically. Mars in Scorpio may have its own moral code of conduct and rules to live by. When someone breaks those rules, it is an invitation to take action. When Mars in Scorpio believes in something or someone, it believes all the way and can be completely devastated should it be deceived or betrayed. In The Addams Family movie, Gomez is entirely convinced Fester is his long-lost brother - he cannot allow himself to believe otherwise. When Gomez is playing with swords, visiting his basement full of money, wrecking model trains, or succumbing to Morticia's chilly charms he is acting out the essence of Mars in Scorpio. Obsession is a Mars in Scorpio quality and Gomez is obsessive about his family. Above all, he is obsessive about Morticia. As he observes her sleeping, he says, "Look at her. I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss!"

Venus is a planet of physical comfort, beauty, and pleasure. It is a feminine planet and represents affection in matters of love. Scorpio is an intensely emotional water sign that wrestles with issues of control and exposure. In love and all relationships, Scorpio prefers to have the upper hand and know more about the other than they are willing to share about themselves until they feel it is safe to do so. Venus in Scorpio can be jealous, protective, intensely loyal, and secretive. Clandestine romance, love triangles, and unrequited love are the negative patterns of relating that arise from the Scorpio fear of exposure and intimacy. Morticia may appear to be unaware of her children, but she doesn't miss much. Venus in Scorpio is receptive, intuitive, and able to know what others are thinking or feeling.
